Vehicle Overview
1947 TC for sale. 38256 miles, not verified but believed to be original from provenance research.
This car is a show winner. Many first and second place trophies have been won along with the best in class at the inaugural Colorado Springs Concours d'elegance where it competed and won with automotive examples trailered in with professional crews.
It is one of the quietest running MG TC cars I have ever encountered and has a full stainless steel exhaust system. The transmission shifts smoothly and the rear end is new with tapered bearings and lip seal and sealed rear wheel bearings. All steering parts have been magnafluxed and the steering components are new or rebuilt including tapered front bearings and the Tompkins steering box modification.
The chrome on this car is of the highest show quality and much of it is fresh in the last 3 years. All weather gear is included with a full tonneau cover and well fitting side curtains that fit over the fold back wind wings on the windscreen.
Although the restoration is several years old, the paint is standing up well with deep and sparkling gloss.
The tan leather interior is beautiful with very slight patina and has a matching center console for sundries that is removable. The leather has been treated annually every fall. The dashboard is a Seabrook book matched walnut dash and all instruments and lights work including the transistorized clock. Seat belts are mounted and turn signals are wired in. Under the dash is the full liner often missing in the TC. Carpets are perfect and floor mats embroidered with the MG logo are included. The doors are topped with the MG door caps from the original UK owner and the DDP383 UK plates are included for front and rear.
The road wheels have been silver powder coated and Firestone tires from 2008 with an estimated 85% tread are mounted. I have had no balance issues with these wheels and tires and the wear is even on each corner.
The engine compartment is clean and has the factory supplied spare oil canister, a LUCAS spare bulb holder and a LODGE spare spark plug holder with plugs. The air cleaner has been retrofitted to accept a late MGB paper filter and the oil filter is modified for a modern spin on canister. These appear to be as the original units to pass concours level judging events. Spares of these filters are included in the purchase and fit into a custom built "smuggler locker" located on each side of the rear axle for road spares.
The tools supplied include a jack with handle and dead blow hammer for the wheel knockoffs. The owners manual is included with all specs, operation details and lubrication charts. A framed Heritage production certificate is included and the 1947 UK MOT windshield sticker is in place. A fitted Technalon cover for the car is included.
